The St. Louis Rams and CHARACTERplus have partnered to identify CHARACTER FITNESS MODEL SCHOOLS. This recognition honors schools that have infused character fitness --combining health, nutrition, character development and physical exercise--throughout their school culture. Learn more.

The Launch at Rams Park on September 21 will present best practices from the 2012 Model Schools and many resources to encourage your creativity and collaboration.

Champions For Character
Cardinals Care and MO Serve and Learn, in cooperation with CHARACTERplus, sponsors Champions for Character. The award program honors three schools in the metro-wide area that have a school-wide ethos of service learning. The school's service learning must be infused in the curriculum and school life. One elementary, one middle and one high school will be selected.

Three local schools are the 2011 recipients of the Champions for Character: Celebrating Service-Learning award, sponsored by Cardinals Care, the community foundation of the St. Louis Cardinals, in cooperation with CHARACTERplus, a project of the Cooperating School Districts.

GCS Federal Credit Union in partnership with Gateway Grizzlies and CHARACTERplus is sponsoring the 2013 “Home Run for Character” Service Learning Recognition Program. Service Learning is an important part of a student’s life. Research shows students who engage in Service Learning enhance their academic, leadership, empathy and citizenship skills. It is experiential learning which makes learning more relevant. It is integrated into the curriculum and promotes academic learning and moral development.
Embrace Service Learning and everyone is a winner! We will honor 3 schools who best exemplify authentic Service Learning from the Illinois counties listed below. * This is open to any PreK-12 school which has made academic connections to real community needs and has integrated student leadership and reflection. The winning schools will be recognized and honored with a banner at the Gateway Grizzlies baseball game on June 11, 2013. Each winning school will receive Grizzlies baseball tickets for the entire student body and staff members! Schools who have won before are still eligible to apply.
