Description: CPI Nonviolent Intervention is considered the worldwide standard for crisis prevention and intervention training. With a core philosophy that provides for the care and safety of everyone involved in a crisis situation, the program's proven strategies give educators the skills to safely and effectively respond to anxious, hostile, or violent behavior while balancing the responsibilities of care.

The training is among a few select programs recommended to fulfill the requirements of Missouri Law (RSMo 160.263).

  • RSMo 160.263 statute
  • Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's model policy

    You will learn how to:

  • identify behaviors that could lead to a crisis.
  • most effectively respond to each behavior to prevent the situation from escalating.
  • use verbal and nonverbal techniques to defuse hostile behavior and resolve a crisis before it becomes violent.
  • cope with your own fear and anxiety.
  • use CPI's principles of Personal Safety to avoid injury if behavior becomes physical.

The program is evidence-based and aligned with PBIS and national standards.
