Dr. Marvin Berkowitz, a nationally-recognized leader in the field of Character Education, currently serves as the Sanford N. McDonnell Endowed Professor of Character Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and as founder and co-director of the Center for Character and Citizenship.

Character Development & Education provides powerful insights into the field of character education and applied moral development. Dr. Berkowitz explores the history, definitions and multi-faceted strategies that shape character development. He presents relevant research, the psychological and developmental components of moral education, and specific approaches for elementary, middle and high school.

Ten Essentials provides an holistic framework for positive culture change. The workshop demonstrates how to bring a community together around its core values and weave these qualities into daily lessons, instructional strategies, service learning and student leadership.

Effective Methods explores advanced, evidence-based strategies that integrate character education into the learning environment, including
• Perspective taking
• Peer Critique
• Integrated Lesson(Understanding by Design)
• Class Meetings/Discussions
• Cross-age, Advisory and Buddies
• Parents as partners
